Academic Project
Finding a niche in the music streaming market
Overview
How might we build a music app that stands out in an already established market?
Research into electronic music communities revealed that many listeners value genre-accurate discovery, detailed metadata such as BPM and key, and subtle community signals from DJs and curators , elements often missing in mainstream streaming platforms.
The concept explores how a music experience tailored to these needs could support deeper discovery and listening.
ROLE
UX/UI designer
Team
Independent project with feedback from UX peers, and supervisor (Hans-Christian Stoltz).
Timeline
5 weeks, October - November, 2023
scope
Research, concept exploration, UX flows, UI design, and interactive prototype

Final design
The final prototype explores discovery flows, waveform-based playback with metadata, and lightweight social interactions designed specifically for electronic music listeners.

Outtakes from components.

Reflection
This project gave me space to explore visual design, motion, and component thinking in Figma.
It also reinforced how research and usability testing are essential for turning ideas into usable product experiences.
